Alex walked out of the airport carrying her red and black carry-on over her shoulder. The flight back to Jersey from California wasn’t as long as she thought it would be. After getting both flight attendants phone numbers, she closed her and slept the entire flight.
When Ashley pulled up in her BMW and popped the trunk, Alex threw in her luggage and hopped in. Alex hugged her best friend briefly before jumping right into how well her trip went and catching up with each other.
“Oh and guess who I may have dinner with tonight?” Alex asked her best friend eager for her to actually guess.
Ashley ran her hand over her short haircut and squeezed the back of her neck before she answered. She knew only one person that got her best friend that excited.
“Please tell me you are not going to see Rebecca.” Ashley said sternly.
Alex burst out laughing as she said, “Oh yeah! What are you? Psychic?”
Ashley rolled her eyes. “Alex what is wrong with you? Can’t you see this woman is playing you?”
“She is not!” Alex raised her voice.
Ashley wasn’t fazed though. At the thought of Rebecca not caring for her the way she thought she did, Alex always got upset. Ashley couldn’t understand it though. As many woman as Alex had, she went boo-boo the fool for Rebecca.
“I didn’t mean to yell.” Alex spoke a little softer. “You just don’t know her like I do. You don’t know what we have.”
“If you all have so much Alex,” Ashley replied while placing a hand on her friend’s shoulder, “Why is she currently dating and living with another woman.”
The rest of the car ride was silent until Ashley pulled up to the luxurious condo that Alex affectionately called her Bachelorette Pad.
“It’s complicated. I’ll call you later.” Alex hopped out before Ashley could respond.

It was nine thirty. Two hours ago Alex received a text from Rebecca that she was almost ready and they could pick a place to meet for dinner. Alex sat beside her fireplace in her jeans and button down beneath her favorite vest. Her third glass of wine was empty and she picked up her phone to text Rebecca.
—We still on?
—Are you okay?
Another hour went by before Alex heard her phone chime.
—Something came up. I’ll make it up to you.
Alex was already in bed and under the covers. As she closed her eyes, she made plans in her head to send Rebecca some of her favorite chocolates tomorrow.

Thank you so much
