Regina and Jae: Chapter 29

Although it broke Regina’s heart to be suddenly be dismissed by Morgan, her pride wouldn’t allow her to do anything, but accept it. When in her presence, she pretended that nothing had ever happened. She was constantly coaching herself in being just as nonchalant about things as Morgan had been. Initially, it was difficult – to put her feelings aside, but the more Morgan pushed her away, the more determined Regina came to behave the same.

Although Jae fully intended on making the change and being faithful, with all that had been going in her life over the past few months, she was unable to look at another women. She spent all her time rebuilding her business… and her bond with Regina. She went home to her every night and was constantly looking for ways to go above and beyond in their relationship. Regina had been so supportive and understanding of her through the years, Jae knew she was the woman she was meant to spend her life with.

Morgan had literally moved on as if nothing had ever happened. She completely purged herself of all thoughts of Regina outside of their group socializing. She made her intentions clear in no longer pursing things between them, and she had full intentions of honoring her word. She went back to being Jae ever-present best friend and swore that she would take her lapse in judgment to the grave.

——————————– Present Day

“Morgan, I’m..I’m sorry! I panicked. I mean, what I wanted to tell her was that..”

Morgan’s temper started to flare. “You panicked?! I just got my ass beat because your ass panicked? What the hell was there to panic about?!”

“I don’t need this shit. One of y’all either tell me what the f*ck is going on, or you can both kiss my ass!” Jae was storming around the living room barely attempting to control her temper. She was on edge and at this point, ready to swing on either one of them.

“Jae, I am so sorry.. I just.. I can’t marry you. I should have ended things a long time ago. I’m sorry.” Regina spit the words out as fast as she could to avoid the bitter taste it was giving her.

“So all of these years, for what Regina? I could have just kept playing you, if I had known all of this!”

Regina’s jaw nearly hit the floor, but she knew better than to react as if her feelings were hurt. “I’m sorry you feel that way Jae, but I just can’t be with you anymore. I need out.”

“Excuse me. Can you get to the part about talking marriage? What the hell made you think I was marrying your ass?” Morgan yelled while looking Regina up and down.

Regina twirled Morgan’s class ring she had on her middle finger. “I love you Morgan. You were right when you said you could make me happy. I was my happiest when I was with you. Everything I needed, I found in my time with you. You know, Jae didn’t even realize I wore this ring every day?”

Once again, Jae saw red. Twice my ass.
