“What do you mean you haven’t heard from Sam?” I attempted to sit up straight in my bed, but I had all of the tubes attached to me that made it a bit difficult.
“After you didn’t show up after a couple of days, we called her. She never called back.”
“How do you know that someone didn’t get her too? I mean, she would never just leave me like that. She was supposed to bring me home that night. She was so admandant that I leave. She never would have left me. Never, never, never…”
“Now that you mention it, that is kinda odd.” The police arrived just as Quinn settled into the arm chair next to the bed.
“I know I was told to leave, but I really need to get your statement while it’s fresh. You feel up to continuing?”
“Officer, have you heard from my friend Sam? Has anyone been by her place?”
“We brought her in for questioning. She wasn’t much help though. Since the last place she saw you was at the party and you insisted on staying it left a whole in the story.
“Wait…” I scratched my head. “I know my memory is a bit fuzzy, but I know I did not insist on staying. She went to go get the car while I located Jade.” My face felt hot when carnal actions started flashing through my brain. “I didn’t see her again after that.”
“She was supposed to come back for you?” The officer started flipping through the pages of his notepad. “That’s not what she said.”
On cue, Sam poked her head through the hospital door with Rev Mama behind her. Three sets of eyes regarded her with suspicion. She didn’t notice though. She came in full of energy and kisses.
“Oh, I’m so glad you’re ok. You had us all worried.”
“So worried that you couldn’t call me back?” Quinn countered.
“So worried that you lied to the police?” The officer added.
