Twisted Heart: Chapter 26

When Lauren and Allison pulled into the driveway, their women were sitting on the porch waiting for them. The sun had gone down an hour ago, but their angry faces could be seen through the light of the porch lamp.

The two women excited the car and walked towards the house.

“Hi sweetheart.” Lauren said with a smile.

There was silence for what seemed like An hour.

“Hi sweetheart?!” Justice screamed. “You disappear for hours and all you say is hi sweetheart?!”

Lauren steeped closer to her girlfriend even though when she screamed it always made her shake. “Baby, calm down. I meant to call you but…”
“But nothing!!” Justice wasn’t going to let her off that easy. “I think it’s time you two went home.” Justice said to her two friends.

Tatiana stood and reached for Allison’s hand. Allison hadn’t said a word. As a matter of fact she hadn’t even looked up from the ground. Tati was just glad that she was back. They said their goodbyes and Justice let them borrow her truck.

When they drove away, Justice finally stood, looked at Lauren and then stepped aside so Lauren could walk first into the house.

They were both quiet as they went upstairs and got ready for bed. Lauren kept waiting for Justice to keep yelling. Anything was better than silence. Finally, she couldn’t take it anyone.

“I’m sorry I went…”

“Don’t you know how much I love you!” Justice interrupted.

“Y…y…yes.” Lauren could barely get out.

“I’ve been worried sick and we didn’t even know where to look.” Justice closed the distance between them and pulled her close in seconds. “I’d die without you. With all this craziness going on, Tati in jail, I didn’t know what to think.” Justice fell to her knees and pressed her head against Lauren’s thighs. “Don’t ever get hurt, don’t ever leave, I wouldn’t be able to take it.”

Lauren wanted to tell her girlfriend where she was. She battled back and forth. She looked down at her and still couldn’t decide. Finally, she fell to her knees too and let Justice hold her tight as they kissed softly and with as much intense passion as they ever had.
